Carbon Positive Australia

Carbon Positive Australia is an Australian charity that has been restoring degraded lands through ecologically sensitive planting. Since 2001 we have restored over 5,000 hectares, planted over 6 million trees and captured almost 650,000 tonnes of carbon, collaborating with landholders, communities and environmental organisations. Our Mission is to empower all Australians to take positive climate action.

Programs

Carbon Positive Australia undertakes tree planting and carbon sequestration projects that have positive climate, health and wellbeing outcomes, with a particular focus on:

Broad-scale Restoration and Carbon Projects in Regional Australia

We plant on previously cleared and degraded land for biodiversity, carbon sequestration and landcare outcomes such as improved soil health and habitat for native fauna and flora. Read about our projects here.

City and Urban Planting Projects

We plant nationally with local community groups, through our Plant Trees Australia initiative. This initiative provides funding to local groups to plant trees in their area, with a focus on disinvested suburbs and remote communities. Supporting tree planting builds both climate resilience and amenity to areas and contributes to wider goals of carbon reduction and increased green canopy. Read about our projects here.

Education and Research

We offer an (award-winning) free online carbon calculator for households, individuals and small businesses. Since its launch in the early 2000’s, it has assisted thousands of Australians to learn and take action on their carbon footprint and continues to be updated to take into account new data. We also offer heaps of free resources and research to help everyone take positive climate action.
